Join our Parks and Recreation team and many City departments to learn about sustainability at our annual Earth Day Festival including an Earth Day market, sustainable transportation expo, fresh water to fill your water bottle, free document shredding, and much more. Take part in Durham Earth Day Festival at Central Park on Sunday, April 24.There are many ways you can get involved in this effort including Durham Earth Day Festival on Sunday and additional ideas below. We want Durham to be a leader in providing an excellent and sustainable quality of life, and that requires all of us to do our part. I encourage you to learn more about this work by visiting our General Services Department website and taking a closer look at the action plan. Over the next 30 years we will continue to share progress towards these goals to bring cleaner air, reduced energy consumption, job opportunities, and a healthier environment to our Durham community. By late 2022, the City’s portfolio of solar photovoltaic rooftop systems will grow to include four facilities – the Sign and Signal Shop, Fire and EMS Stations 17 and 18, and the General Services Offices on Fay Street, with additional systems planned.
